There are so many aspects to owning a home that it is hard to think through all of them when you are in the market to buy another one. My husband and I spent twelve years remodeling a five bed room rambler on twenty acres. First we had water problems in the crawl space under the house. We raised the house and put in several more courses of blocks to make a complete basement.  This opened up many additional possibilities regarding what we could do with this additional space.

The coast around North Carolina offers terrific scenery and an interesting maritime history. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse has been part of the community here for many years and has been vital for the safety of shipping. Situated on Hatteras Island on the Outer Banks, the black and white striped landmark goes by the nickname, The Big Barber Pole. It is the tallest lighthouse in the United States and is one of the most famous images of the state. The light can be seen from 20 miles away at sea and it helps sailors to navigate safely round the underwater shallow sandbars known as the Diamond Shoals. The area is well known for its dangerous ocean currents and storms, resulting in numerous shipwrecks over the years.

Reading is a wonderful thing. I especially enjoy fiction. Books allow me to access other worlds and become other people. This is what sets them apart from films in my opinion. It’s easier to pretend you’re the lead character of a book, because a movie lays it all out right there in front of you. The imagination doesn’t work so hard with movies. The trick to getting the full-on experience from a book is by finding what tickles your fancy. Is it suspense, horror, espionage, or romance? You get to choose and get lost in the story. Now the only question is; where do you find all these wonderful books. Well, you can either hit-up the local Barnes and Noble or Border’s book store, or you can try buying books online.

I’ve loved butterflies ever since I was a kid growing up in the country. At first, I was attracted to the bright colors and the way they signaled that summer was definitely upon us; later, I came to appreciate their symmetry and the way they flitted so gracefully through the fields. My affinity for butterflies has lasted to this day, so it should come as no surprise that my home decor centers on this motif.

Water is essential for our bodies. It is important that we keep hydrated to keep our bodies healthy. It is recommended that we drink so much water a day to give our bodies exactly what they need. Water helps to clear our skin and to keep it looking great. We need at minimum eight cups of water a day. However, tap water just doesn’t taste that great sometimes. It’s not at the right temperature or taste that we want it at. There are lots of bottled water brands to help solve this problem and to help everyone find a brand that they like.
