Hamill undergoing breast cancer treatment
Dorothy Hamill, who earned a gold medal for the United States in the 1976 Olympics, has begun treatment for breast cancer in Maryland. People magazine said Friday that while the 51-year-old figure skating star will be forced to miss several Broadway on Ice performances due to the treatment, her prognosis is very favorable. A representative for Hamill said if the medical efforts at Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center go as planned, the gold medal-winning skater should rejoin the national tour on Jan. 16 when it arrives in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
