I first became aware of the advantages of Internet banking when I was in college. You see, I had a very irregular schedule that did not allow me to always deposit checks in a timely fashion. This could be a big problem when I was getting my paycheck right before rent was due. I was living check to check, so sometimes a delay of a day or two in depositing could be a big issue.

Speaking during the launch, the bank’s Managing Director, Mr. Henry A Macauley said the introduction of this new banking system in the country is to further enhance the integrity and easy access for their numerous customers in the country.  He spoke about some of the basic provisions of the new system which he said include the use of mobile phone to access customer’s account, using the debit card instead of carrying cash to places like supermarkets, filling stations, building material stores, to access goods and that the device is being offered free of charge to all existing customers of the bank.

Wachovia adds Verizon customers to mobile banking

ASHEVILLE � Many Verizon Wireless customers can now do their banking with their mobile telephones if they are online customers of Wachovia Bank, the two companies have announced.  Wachovia has offered its Wachovia Mobile service since 2006.  The application does not work on all phones used by Verizon customers. Korea: Lee To Let Chaebols Into Banking Business

SEOUL, KOREA: Korea’s big companies will be allowed to further invest in the banking industry, as the incoming administration of President-elect Lee Myung-bak will ease relevant regulations, Lee’s transition committee said Thursday (3 Jan).  Committee members said after the meeting with Financial Supervisory Commission officials that they would review various measures to ease the investment cap.  “There was no dissension with the FSC about easing the regulation,” said Kang Man-soo, who is in charge of the committee’s economic policy. </p> <p> Domestic nonfinancial firms have been prevented from holding more than 4 per cent stake in any financial service company; this is a rule aimed at prohibiting big conglomerates, particularly chaebol, from controlling the capital market
