There are many different coffee brands out there from which you can choose. Some just know what they like, and that is all that they buy. While I was growing up, I never thought much about it because I did not drink it, but my mom drank a lot of it. Though there were times she would try other brands, she always ended up with Folgers. That was what both she and her husband liked, so there really was not point in trying something else. For me, however, I have quite a few that I now like.

Beanheads are buzzing about the “brewhaha” on J Street. Last week, a Peet’s Coffee & Tea opened next to a rival Starbucks, a mere 50 paces separating front doors. “The coffee wars are on!” proclaimed east Sacramento resident Chris Oxsen as he entered the new Peet’s, at 3711 J St., for the first time. A gulp away, at 3815 J St., Steve Smith of Sacramento perched in his window seat at Starbucks, a “triple grande, no whip, extra hot mocha” in hand

After a successful two-year stint at city hall, Wyoming’s monthly Coffee With the Council is hitting the road. Held from 10 a.m. to noon the first Saturday of each month, the informal sessions will look to venture into neighborhoods, and to highlight businesses and organizations within the community. “Some said we really don’t see a lot of the other things going on in the community,” said Mayor Carol Sheets. “Wyoming has a lot of great success stories.” For the first outing, the council and citizens will get a tour of WKTV studios before sitting down for their regular chat session. While the event has its regulars, it provides a forum for residents to come forward with questions or complaints and get input and direction from their elected officials.

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Coffee and cocoa prices came off Friday’s 9.5 year highs as players grew nervous that Friday’s fund-led rally might have been overdone. Sugar prices continued higher, however. “I think we’re getting to the tail end of coffee. The market could be turning a little bit to downside,” said Ambrian Commodities trader Jeff Cooper. He added, however, that at the end of the day the market is heading higher as the fund money that drove prices to multi-year peaks is not going to disappear any time soon. At 11.45 am on the Liffe in London, Robusta coffee for March delivery, the second month contract, was down 8 usd at 2,021 usd a tonne, having earlier matched Friday’s 9.5 year peak of 2,041 usd a tonne.
