The entertainment industry is something that will never go away. There may be times when less is going on because the economy is bad, but it will go on. One of the first things that most stop spending money on is live entertainment and other events when money is tight, but they soon find that this is something that keeps them sane. No matter what is going on, there is always someone putting an event together. If this sounds like something you might like to do, careers in event planning might be what you should look into.

Have you ever forgotten about how much you enjoy something due to the passage of time? So often the things that we enjoy the most are set aside as other responsibilities take over our lives. We need to be responsible and live according to the choices that we have made in our lives, yet we also need to take care of our selves and look out for our own happiness. We cannot count on others making us happy nor can we leave our happiness to chance.

FLEMINGSBURG — The defending 16th Region champion Elliott County Lions paid a visit to the Den Tuesday and dealt the Fleming County Panthers an 83-58 defeat in running their season mark to 12-1.The Lions, who are the odds-on favorite to repeat last year’s trip to the Sweet Sixteen, came into the game averaging 90 points per game, along with an average winning margin of 31 points. Their lone loss was to 9th Region power Covington Catholic in the 5/3 Bank Classic at Lexington Catholic on Dec. 28.The Sandy Hook school brought a large cheering section to Flemingsburg and the Lions sent their supporters home happy, but not without a gritty effort from the sophomore-laden home team. After Fleming County opened the game’s scoring on a driving basket from Tyler Fraser, the Lions answered with a three-pointer from Evan Faulkner and never looked back.Elliott County got its fast-breaking offense in high gear and sprinted to a 23-10 lead with 1:20 left in the opening period before the Panthers mounted a short 8-2 run of their own to close to within seven (25-18) at the end of the quarter.Fleming County stayed in the game by shooting a sizzling 73 percent in the first eight minutes, going 8-for-11 from the field, at times beating the Elliott County press for layups.

Andy Roddick powered into the second round of the Australian Open with a straight sets win over Czech qualifier Lukas Dlouhy this afternoon. The American sixth seed took just one hour and 38 minutes to advance 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 and continue his sequence of never going out in the opening round of his seven Australian Opens. Roddick was temporarily held up in his drive for victory when Dlouhy, ranked 154, broke him when he was serving out for the match in the 10th game. But that merely pushed Roddick into breaking Dlouhy’s service for the fifth time in the next game and ripping through his next service game to love to clinch victory with his 13th ace. Roddick is looking to do better than his best finish of three semi-final appearances at the Australian Open, and faces a potential semi-final with second seed Rafael Nadal.
